the art of getting started

冬です。c'est l'hiver. it's winter. time for many people living in the snow to enjoy a sip of tea as it blows outside - or, for those of us at the U, time to power walk through it and hit the books to start the "spring" semester.

after months of practicing my hand-lettering, I decided this would be the perfect time to put my skills to the test and design my own journal+planner. and I couldn't wait to get started! I immediately hit up Pinterest and added a bunch of inspiring pins to my hand-lettering board. I assembled my arsenal of writing tools: medium and fine brush pens, a uni-ball vision rollerball pen, some fine line LePens in various colors, and a gorgeous silver and gold Cross ballpoint pen (a recent gift from my boyfriend). I picked up a pack of Moleskine paperback notebooks on clearance at the campus bookstore. and I dug up a small metal ruler from an old mechanical engineering class kit.
